Hello Believers and Truth Seekers,

I’m sipping my coffee on this cool, cool morning, looking forward to a real winter. Cold weather makes for a calm, cozy season. I know some of you already have snow, but down here in Georgia, we’re just getting a taste. And let’s be honest—when it’s cold, many of us like to sleep a little longer. Sleeping in is fine sometimes. But if you have appointments, well… not so much.

Yesterday, I knocked on my daughter’s bedroom door to remind her to get up on time for work — yes, a work-from-home job. I was surprised to be met with a whole lot of grumbling and growling so loud I could hear it through a closed door. That’s when I thought, Okay… let’s talk about this.

How do you get up in the morning?

I gently reminded her, “Girl, don’t get up in a bad mood like that.” I’m pretty sure I heard a cuss word too. I followed up with, “Don’t get up with the devil.” Later, I even texted her a Bible verse to wake up to. Why? Because what we say guides our day.

Some people get up with the devil and then wonder why nothing goes right. They’ve already canceled their protection. The Holy Spirit is not responding to all that noise.

Many people yell at their kids, spouse, or significant other on the way out the door. As a woman who was married for many years, let me say this plainly — that is not sexy. And trust me, either you or your spouse will remember what was said that morning later in the day. Words linger. They affect the atmosphere. Some people even curse at rideshare drivers when they’re late. It may seem harmless, but it’s not.

Intentional living has real benefits.

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Personally, when I get out of bed, I thank God and say these words:

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Instead of saying we, I say I will rejoice and be glad in it. 

Everyone has something to be grateful for. If you woke up and were able to get up, that alone is a blessing. Put yourself in an intentional good mood. Become a person with a pleasant disposition. God loves to bless people who walk in gratitude. Start your day with favor. Don’t start your day cursing yourself because you are careless with your words. No excuses, please.

Let love fill your home as much as possible — it truly matters. Some people take the Lord’s name in vain through casual cursing. I used to say, “Jesus, take the wheel.” Did you know that can be taking the Lord’s name in vain? It sounds innocent, but the Lord is holy, and we are to fear Him. The Holy Spirit convicted me of that in 2024.

We are to speak scripture and pray with faith to invite Jesus into our situations.

Psalms 46:1KJV  “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

We can all learn — no matter who we are, and at any age. Regardless of the situation, God’s name should always be spoken with reverence. Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
