Letter From the Editor: Speak Life Challenge Day 2: Encouragement
Hello Believers and Truth Seekers,
Welcome to Day Two of the Speak Life Challenge. Today’s focus is simple but powerful: encouragement.
I want to share a personal story that taught me how life-changing encouraging words can be.
There was a season when my adult daughter and I had friction about almost everything. No matter the topic, it felt tense. I did not understand why. I am strong-willed, direct, and I like to get to the point.
If I felt an argument going nowhere, I made sure I had the last word—even saying out loud, “I’m having the last word here, and that’s that.”

At the time, I thought I was being firm. In truth, I was not listening. I just wanted it done. Eventhough she did not do what she agreed to do, she felt as if I was treating her as a child.
Later, I learned many parents experience this with adult children. Psychologically, it is often tied to avoiding accountability or resisting change. But knowing that did not fix the relationship.
So I prayed. I talked to God honestly, like I always do—telling Him what was bothering me. The next morning, during my devotion time—praise, Bible reading, and prayer—I came across a verse I had not noticed before and have not seen since. The message was clear and gentle: say one kind thing a day to improve communication.
I opened my Bible, and there it was.
I decided to obey. Each day, I spoke one encouraging word—nothing fancy and nothing else, just sincere kindness. Within three days, our communication changed. The tension eased. We talked. We listened. Peace returned. I still say someothing nice everyday.
From a psychological view, encouragement lowers defenses. From a biblical view, it opens the heart. When people feel seen through love and support, even if they are wrong, they listen. I had tried similar things before, and it did not work. This time, the Holy Spirit stepped in.
That is why today’s theme matters.
Speak encouragement into someone else’s life, and watch how it improves your own life and relationships.
Today, choose one person. Say one kind thing. Let God do the rest.
With hope and grace,

❤️🙏❤️Wednesday: Today’s Assignment. Speak Encouragement not curses or grumbling.
Speak scripture encouragement over one person. Remind them that today matters. Speak hope, not fear. Life, not defeat. We speak scripture so God can intervene as his word does not return to him void.
Encouragement lifts the spirit. Psychology confirms that positive words increase motivation and emotional strength. God designed us to build each other up.

The jl18app? Yeah, got it on my tablet. Streams work well in my experience so far, but they can be a little laggy sometimes based on location. Pretty slick though! jl18app
