Daily Word: The Promise Keeper Matthew 24:35 KJV Explained
The Promise Keeper
Matthew 24:35 KJV Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. (KJV)
“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Matthew 24:35, KJV). These words remind us of God’s eternal promises. Unlike the world’s temporary nature, God’s Word endures forever. In a world where change is constant, God’s unchanging nature provides hope and security.
The Apostle Peter reinforces this in 2 Peter 3:8-11 (KJV):
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise…” God patiently waits for all to turn to Him, but Peter warns that this world will eventually dissolve, urging us to live holy lives. God’s promises, unlike human words, are not subject to decay.
Jeremiah 8:6 KJV “I hearkened and heard, but they spoke not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rushes into the battle.”
Biblical Example: Noah and the Ark
Noah is a testament to God as the Promise Keeper. Despite widespread wickedness, God promised Noah salvation through the ark. When the floodwaters came, God’s promise was fulfilled, preserving Noah and his family (Genesis 6-9). This story shows that God’s Word never fails, even when it defies human understanding.
The Rebirth of Israel
In modern times, the rebirth of Israel fulfills biblical prophecy, demonstrating God’s enduring promises. Despite centuries of exile, His Word in scriptures like Ezekiel 37 foretold the nation’s restoration. This real-world example reveals how God’s promises transcend time. Time and distance are not barriers to God’s powers. When you think the time has passed, he restores.
Reflection Question
Do you trust God’s promises, even when circumstances seem uncertain? Reflect on how His unchanging Word provides hope and guidance in your life.
God, the ultimate Promise Keeper, reminds us that His Word will outlast the heavens and the earth. Let us trust in His unshakable truth and live in anticipation of His eternal promises.
