Mother o’ Mine was written by Rudyard Kipling in the late 1800s as a short poem about the unconditional love of a mother.
The poem became famous because it expresses the idea that a mother’s love remains faithful no matter what happens to her child.
The speaker in the poem imagines terrible situations:
being hanged on a hill,
drowning in the sea,
and even losing his soul.
Yet in every situation, he says his mother would still love him, cry for him, pray for him, and stand by him.
One of the most famous lines is:
“I know whose love would follow me still,
Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!”

A godly mother is a reflection of God’s love, wisdom, and comfort.
In Proverbs 31 KJV, the Bible describes a virtuous woman who speaks with kindness, cares for her household, and fears the Lord.
Her life is filled with wisdom, strength, and honor.
Proverbs 31:10 KJV “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.”
In 2 Timothy 1:5 KJV, the Apostle Paul reminds Timothy of the sincere faith that first lived in his grandmother Lois and his mother Eunice.
Their godly example helped shape Timothy into a faithful servant of God. A mother’s faith can influence generations.
God also compares His comfort to the love of a mother in Isaiah 66:13, saying, “As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you.”
These scriptures remind us that a loving and prayerful mother is one of God’s greatest blessings, bringing comfort, guidance, and faith into the lives of her children.
2 Timothy 1:5 KJV “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.”
