Dear Believers and Truth Seekers,

There is a quiet danger many people face after God delivers them. It is the temptation to go back. Back to old places.

Back to old habits. Back to people who only knew the “former” version of them. Today I want to remind you: don’t dig-up your own grave. Let’s talk about it.

Letter from the editor's desk

I remember joining a diet club years ago. One lesson stayed with me.

We were told it helps to stay connected with people who share the same goal, especially when support at home is weak.

My family loved me, yet they did not always support my desire to lose weight.

In some ways, they were comfortable with the old version of me—less confident, more quiet, and always serving.

My husband, now deceased, often wanted to take me out to dinner.

Friends would invite me over and surprise me with homemade cookies made just for me.

At first, I felt hurt and disappointed. Later, I began to understand something deeper.

We are all human, and we all have flaws.

This is one reason the message of forgiveness is so powerful.

We admire families who cheer each other on in every healthy change.

Yet the truth is, that level of support is not always common.

Love can be complicated. It can show up in kind words one day and unhelpful habits the next.

In time, I reached my goal. I also learned an important life lesson.

Sometimes you must encourage yourself when others cannot see your vision.

I chose not to stay angry. Eventually, they came to appreciate the stronger, healthier version of me.

My growth did not have to threaten their love.  The experience reminded me of a greater truth.

When you are delivered from something that once held you back, you must guard your progress.

Do not return to old patterns simply because they feel familiar. You have more strength than you think.

Negative voices will try to convince you otherwise. Stay steady. Move forward.

Love comes in all flavors, sizes and yes, silent forms of betrayal.

It was a reminder, when God delivers you, don’t go back to what you have been delivered from.

It is in your power.  Satan will have you think otherwise.

This is part of the deeper promise behind the words about abundant life.

It is easy to think abundance means money, status, or comfort. Yet the richer meaning points somewhere else.

True abundance is the quiet strength of good health, the calm of real peace, the warmth of love, and the steady glow of joy.

It is the freedom to grow, the wisdom that guides your choices, and the hope that reaches beyond this life.

These gifts cannot be bought, sold, or stored in a bank.

In many ways, the world teaches us to chase what has a price tag.

It tells us that value is measured in dollars and possessions.

But the most life-giving treasures are often the ones no one can charge you for.

When you begin to see this clearly, your priorities shift.

You start protecting what truly makes you whole.

Abundance then becomes less about what you own and more about how fully you live.

Dont dig up your grave

Your power cannot be taken away but given away. You can also be tricked out of the power to change, achieve goals or just be a better servant of God.

When God saves you, He does not just improve you — He makes you new.

The Bible says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV).

This means your past does not have the final say. God does.

Sometimes people around you may try to pull you backward. They may remind you of who you were, not who you are becoming. Wisdom teaches us to move forward.

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old” (Isaiah 43:18, KJV).

God is always doing a new work in our lives. Yet we must be willing to step into new environments, build new relationships, and develop new ways of thinking.

Real change often begins when we are brave enough to move beyond what feels safe and familiar.

In counseling conversations, I have met many people who once experienced strong deliverance from difficult habits.

After years of progress, some returned to the very settings that once weakened them.

Within a short time, old struggles resurfaced.

Their shared wisdom is simple but powerful: freedom often grows when there is healthy separation.

Healing takes root in new soil.

This truth shows up in many areas of life.

Someone overcoming overeating may need to avoid working in food-focused environments that create constant temptation.

A person recovering from heavy drinking may need to stay away from clubs, parties, or social circles built around alcohol.

Those trying to break compulsive shopping patterns may benefit from limiting time in stores or online browsing spaces that trigger spending.

Even people working to leave toxic relationships behind may need distance from certain conversations, places, or routines that pull them backward.

Scripture reflects this same principle. When Lot was rescued from Sodom, he was warned not to look back.

Yet Lot’s wife turned and became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). Looking back can freeze progress. Moving forward protects purpose.

Even in modern news, we hear stories of people who rebuild their lives after prison, addiction, or hardship by relocating, learning new skills, and building healthier communities.

Their success often begins with a simple decision — not to return to what nearly destroyed them.

The Apostle Paul gives us a clear strategy: “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Philippians 3:13, KJV).

His safety depended on moving forward into a new place. Deliverance was not only about leaving danger — it was about choosing a different path.

If you sense that God is leading you into a season of change, you do not have to walk alone.

Faith-based counseling can provide encouragement, practical boundaries, and support for building healthier patterns.

Guidance is available to help you protect your progress and step with confidence into the new life being formed within you.

Growth requires focus on the future, not excavation of the past.

Beloved, you are not an “ex-anything” in Christ. You are redeemed. You are restored.

You are renewed by grace. Let God close the graveyard of your past.

Walk forward in faith, surrounded by people and places that support the new life He has given you.
