🔑 Key Verse:  “These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” – John 20:31 (KJV)

The Gospel of John was written by John the Beloved, one of Jesus’ closest friends. He was a fisherman who later became a bold preacher and deep thinker. Instead of writing like a news reporter,  John wrote like a poet with a flashlight—shining light on who Jesus really is.  This John is not John the Baptist as John the Baptist died before the Gospels were written.

Date Written: A.D. 85–90, when John was older and wiser.
Main Point: Jesus isn’t just a teacher or prophet or Son of God in the flesh—He is also God. He existed in heaven, full of truth, love, and light before coming to earth to be the sacrifice, the only sacrifice needed for the forgiveness of sins because of who he was and is and is to come.

💡 Bible Story: Jesus and Nicodemus (John 3 KJV)
One night, a smart teacher named Nicodemus sneaked over to see Jesus. He was curious but didn’t want anyone to see him—because who wants to lose cred with the religious crowd?

Jesus told him, “Ye must be born again.” Nicodemus scratched his head, probably thinking, “You want me to do what now?”  (see salvation offer below).

But Jesus explained: We’re talking a spiritual rebirth. That means starting over with God, clean and new. Jesus was speaking baptism as a symbolic partaking in his resurrection-burial and rising again to life.  It is a spiritual ritual that washes away unclean spirits that may be attached to a person.

🌍 Real-World Example:
Imagine updating your phone’s software—it works better, faster, and gets rid of the bugs. Jesus does that with your heart. He doesn’t just patch you up. He makes you brand new—from the inside out.

🧠 Science Corner:
According to a 2022 brain study from Duke University, faith and prayer activate the same parts of the brain that deal with peace, decision-making, and emotional healing. In other words, believing in Jesus can actually calm your nervous system.  John would say, “Of course it does! Jesus is the Prince of Peace.”

Let’s be honest—John’s Gospel feels like a prophet who skips the small talk and answers the question, “Who is Jesus, Really?”

✝️ Why This Matters Before Good Friday
John’s Gospel helps us understand who Jesus really is before we see what He went through on the cross. He’s not just a man dying for a cause—He is God choosing to save us because He loves us that much.

💭 Reflection Question:
Why do you think it’s important to know that Jesus is both God and man?

Hint: Jesus the man is the blood sacrifice that forgives sins. We must accept him as the Son of God to accept the sacrifice.  In accepting Jesus and believing  we can talk directly to God in Jesus name.  No more going through someone or sacrificing animals.  You are given the heritage of the children of God.

As Jesus walked the earth, he contained God, and the holy ghost within him. All those who call on the name of Jesus is saved. He is that powerful.  He is the creator as God who loves you.   This is explained in more detail in the Gospel of John.

Another question for you.  What is the name of God?  What is the name Satan and demons recognize as having the power of God?   (Hint: Jesus Christ)

Acts 4:12 KJV  “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Romans 10:9-10  9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.

John 3:5-6  5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
