12 Powerful Spiritual Goals for 2024: Grow Closer to God in the New Year
As the calendar flips a fresh page, a wave of hope and possibility washes over us. We envision all the good we can achieve, the mountains we can climb, and the personal transformations we long for. In this spirit, let’s dive deeper into our faith and set some spiritual goals for the year ahead, with Christ as our guide and strength.

First, Get Saved.
If you are not saved and wish to be saved to receive forgiveness of Sins by our Lord and Savior, please see offer below or attend a local church. Do something different to get something different.
Taming the Tongue:
At the top of our list, let’s place a commitment to mindful speech. James 3:9-10 reminds us, “With the tongue we bless our God and Father, and with the tongue we curse the people made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.” This year, let’s strive to watch our words, choosing kindness over gossip, and truth over embellishment. In this way, we create a haven of peace and respect around us, mirroring the love Christ preached.
Finding Fellowship:
Hebrews 10:25 encourages us, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Attending church regularly isn’t just a checkbox; it’s a chance to be part of the vibrant tapestry of faith, to draw strength from shared prayers and songs, and to grow alongside fellow believers. Let’s make worshipping in community a cornerstone of our spiritual journey in 2024.
Daily Devotion:
Isaiah 55:11 promises, “So my word that comes from my mouth will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Let’s dive into the depths of Scripture, nourishing our souls with daily prayer and meditation. We can find countless inspiring verses for this purpose – the calming Psalms, the wisdom of Proverbs, the strength of John’s gospel. Let’s make the Word a constant companion, whispering guidance and comfort throughout the day.
Memorizing Empowering Bible Verses:
Joshua 1:8 tells us, “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night so you may carefully follow all it commands. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” What better way to internalize God’s message than by surrounding ourselves with it? Let’s choose ten verses that particularly resonate with us, verses that offer strength, hope, and direction. We can print them beautifully, frame them with love, and place them where we can see them daily – a visual reminder of God’s unwavering presence.
Communion at Home:
1 Corinthians 11:23-24 tells us, “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus on the night he was betrayed took a loaf of bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you, do this in remembrance of me.'” In the spirit of community, let’s bring the sacred act of communion into our homes, sharing it with loved ones who follow the same path. This intimate ritual will deepen our connection with God and with each other, reminding us of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice.
Sing Praises:
James 5:13 encourages us, “Is anyone among you happy? Let them sing songs of praise.” Fill your home, your heart, and your day with the joyous melodies of Christian praise songs. Learn ten new ones this year, vibrant anthems that uplift your spirit and remind you of God’s goodness. Sing them alone, sing them with your family, sing them in the stillness of the morning or the quiet of the evening. Let music be your prayer, your celebration, your daily dose of divine joy.
Sharing the Stories:
Deuteronomy 6:7-9 instructs us, “Impress these commands on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your wrists and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” As parents, we have the privilege of introducing our children to the wonders of the Bible. Let’s spend time with them, reading the stories of Noah’s ark, David and Goliath, Jesus’ miracles. Help them understand the lessons hidden within, the values of faith, love, and resilience. In doing so, we plant the seeds of faith that will blossom throughout their lives.
Lifting Others in Prayer:
James 5:16 reminds us, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Let’s not neglect the power of intercession. Create a prayer list and note when the prayers have been answered. A powerful way to increase your faith.
Pay Your Tithes. If you are having different opinions on this, pray and ask the Holy Spirit what you should do. Then accept it. You are developing a relationship with a Real Living God that has sent his Spirit, the Holy Spirit to guide you. There is no reason to leave your actions to other interpretations.
The bible gives clear directions that some people tithes were different than others based on what their financial status was. The church has bills and need your support. Some churches are rich but many or not and depend on its members support. Chose a church you feel comfortable giving to, please give. A closed fist does not allow anything out and does not allow anything to come in.
Serve your community through volunteering or charitable giving.
Serving your community through volunteering or charitable giving is a beautiful way to embody the spirit of Christ and spread love and compassion. I suggest at least four actions combined of giving and volunteering. Here are a few Bible verses that perfectly capture the essence of this act of service:
1. Galatians 6:10: “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who are of the household of faith.” This verse reminds us that every opportunity to help, whether big or small, is a chance to serve God and our fellow humans.
2. Matthew 25:40: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” This powerful verse emphasizes the importance of serving those in need, recognizing that in doing so, we serve Christ himself.
3. 1 Peter 4:10: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” This verse reminds us that our talents and resources are gifts from God, and using them to serve others is a way of honoring his generosity.

CALL TO SALVATION:
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Romans 10:9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.
John 3:5-6 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is the Spirit.
